AIDA Cruises supports RTL charity marathon with 100,000 euros
The 23rd RTL Charity Marathon will begin at 6:00 p.m. on November 22, 2018. AIDA Cruises will be a partner for the first time, and the cruise company is getting involved in the initiative with a donation of 100,000 euros.
As part of this campaign, and under the motto “AIDA gives children a smile,” AIDA staged a special day aboard AIDAperla for 16 kids from the children’s home in Bremen. A lively paper chase took them to various points of the ship where they had to solve puzzles and tasks. After tackling puzzles, slides and climbs, along with a little mental exercise, the treasure hunters finally reached AIDA Capitan Jens Janauscheck. He, along with the singer Sasha, who provided the song for this year’s charity marathon, presented the kids with a treasure chest full of surprises and toys. Afterwards, the captain handed over a check for 100,000 euros for the “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V.” Foundation.
AIDA Cruises has already been involved for many years in numerous projects to promote and support disadvantaged people. It is second nature for the company to take responsibility, and to provide help where it is needed.
Starting from 6:00 p.m. on November 22, AIDA fans, cruise lovers and RTL viewers will be able to watch the charity event for 24 hours, and make donations themselves. All proceeds from the evening, and any donations made beforehand will go in full to the Foundation’s projects. These include a center for eye cancer, a Peruvian therapy center for children with disabilities, and support for Syrian refugee children in Jordan.
