AIDA Cruises: Cadets on a great journey
22 cadets from AIDA Cruises have been aboard the sailing training ship “Großherzogin Elisabeth” since August 16, 2019 and will complete the basic seamanship training in around 17 days. In addition to the students from AIDA Cruises, 12 cadets from Costa Crociere will also take part this year.
The practice excursion, which lasts several weeks, is part of the comprehensive training program of AIDA Cruises and optimally prepares the students for their nautical studies and their first on-board assignment at AIDA. AIDA Cruises has been cooperating with the training ship association “Großherzogin Elisabeth” e.V. for 8 years.
During the training trip, they will learn important nautical terms, basic sailing skills and above all team spirit. Other subjects are in particular navigation, working with nautical charts, meteorology, machine service as well as knots and splicing.
The new cadets belongs to the 114 students, which, thanks to the cooperation with the University of Wismar, Department of Maritime Studies, can go through their studies with nautical-technical orientation at AIDA Cruises. AIDA Cruises is one of the fastest-growing and commercially most successful tourism companies in Germany, and offers specialist and management personnel in a wide range of areas excellent career opportunities in international teams. There are currently around 15,000 employees from 50 countries working on shore and aboard the 13 AIDA ships. The company will commission three more cruise ships by 2023.
AIDA currently offers nautical-technical courses in nautical engineering, electrical engineering for ships and ship operation technology. Applications for the coming year are now possible at aida.de/careers/de
