AIDA Cruises takes delivery of new ship
On March 11, 2013, AIDA Cruises finally took delivery of its new ship, AIDAstella, from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg at a special ceremony. The vessel was handed over to the cruise operator in the presence of Michael Ungerer, President of AIDA Cruises, and Bernard Meyer, Managing Director of the Meyer Werft shipyard.
Captain Nico Berg was presented with the ship’s documents and will now take the helm of AIDAstella. The vessel will cast off from Emden at 6 p.m. and set course for its first voyage to Hamburg. She will then dock at the Hamburg Cruise Center in the port city at around 8 a.m. on March 12, 2013.
AIDAstella, the tenth member of the AIDA Cruises fleet, will be christened in Warnemünde on March 16, 2013. On the evening of the christening, Captain Nico Berg will lead no fewer than 10 godmothers onto the stage to name the new ship. The company has invited all its personnel and closest associates to be guests of honor at the christening ceremony.
