We examine and optimize our operations, continually taking into account our own requirements, new legal provisions and technical advances. The basis for this ongoing introspection is the interaction within the company and dialogue with our partners.
Our aim is always to exceed our guests’ expectations regarding an AIDA holiday. The safety of guests and crew has topmost priority at AIDA at all times. Our aim is to guarantee safe ship operations at all times, to be a pioneer in technical developments, to promote diversity and attractive working conditions as well as setting up life-cycle management for all our products.
The implementation of our sustainability strategy requires short, medium and long-term objectives.

Our sustainability ethos always takes into consideration the latest ecological, social and economic developments. Our target setting reflects our ambition to continue to set sustainability standards in the cruise line industry. Accordingly, there is very close interaction between our director for environment and society, Dr Monika Griefahn, her team and the individual specialist units of the company. Regular open discussions on the subject of sustainability have taken place over many years with all the specialist departments and Dr Monika Griefahn – both in the form of round tables and working lunches. On these occasions colleagues inform themselves, interact and provide input on projects of other departments. Constructive ideas and project proposals are discussed with the management board of AIDA Cruises so that they too are included in the sustainability ethos.
Our sustainability program is managed centrally but implemented on a decentralized basis. It is incorporated in every level of the company and is implemented by each and every department. Our integrated management system supports the optimization process focusing on our objectives.
